About This Puja

  • Bilvarchan (offering of Bilva leaves) on Shivlinga has great importance. It is especially done in the worship of Lord Shiva. Offering 108 or 1008 Bilva leaves to Lord Shiva is considered especially beneficial from the religious point of view.
  • Bilva leaves are seen as a symbol of Trinetra Shiva, because Bilvapatra has three leaves, which are considered to be the symbol of Trinetra (three eyes) and Trishul of Lord Shiva.
  • This puja is especially done during fasts, upvaas or any special festival, like Shravan month, Mahashivratri or on Monday.

Bilva Archana is performed by offering Bilva leaves to Shivling and chanting mantras. Bilva leaves are very dear to Lord Shiva and by offering them, he is very pleased and helps in reducing our sins or sins.
